This article discusses the Rand Corporation study, “Invisible Wounds of War”, that concludes that there is a “substantial unmet need for treatment of PTSD and major depression among service members following deployment….with the possibility of more than 300,000 new cases…” The study includes EMDR as one of the evidence-based treatments that need to be provided. “Delivery of evidence-based care for all veterans with PTSD and major depression would pay for itself within two years, or even save money, by improving productivity and reducing medical and mortality costs,” the study says. Description: EMDR was superior to both control conditions in the amelioration of both PTSD symptoms and depression.
