RC DVD Lending Program

EMDRIA is excited to offer a DVD lending program that is ONLY available to EMDRIA Regional Coordinators for regional network meeting purposes. In an effort to support Regional Coordinators and assist in providing EMDRIA Credits to meeting attendees, these pre-recorded DVDs can be shown during regional meetings and attendees can receive anywhere from 1.5 to 6 EMDRIA Credits, depending on the length of the DVD and meeting format. Below are the DVD's that are currently part of the lending program.

In order to submit your request to reserve one of the DVDs listed below be sure to download the lending agreement for the DVD you are interested in showing, complete the lending agreement form and fax to 512.451.5256.

Six Tips from Science: Informing the EMDR Treatment of Very Early Trauma & Neglect
(DVD running time = 90 mins)
2013 EMDRIA Conference DVD Recording with Sandra Paulsen, Ph.D.

This DVD discusses how developments in neurobiology of attachment and affect (Lanius, Paulsen & Corrigan, 2014) are foundational to clinical advances in repairing early trauma and neglect. Innovations in the EMDR field (O'Shea & Paulsen, 2007; Paulsen & O'Shea, in press) for repairing trauma and neglect in infancy are built on this foundation of neurobiological developments. These include: subcortical affective circuits, gestational learning, the amygdale and other basal ganglia as the locus for object relations affect processing, polyvagal theory of resources and social engagement, the right hemisphere locus of somatic, implicit and relational memory, mirror neurons and clinical intuition, and more.

Four Part Series - Integrating Neurobiology & EMDR

2010 DVD Recording with Dean A. Dickerson, Ph.D.
In order to get the most out of this DVD series,
EMDRIA strongly encourages that Parts 1 through 4 be viewed in sequence.

Part 1: Brain Evolution & Adaptive Information Processing (DVD running time = 101 mins)
Click Here for DVD Lending Agreement Form
Understanding the evolution and function of the brain stem, limbic system and the neo-cortex helps to understand how trauma wires the emotional networks of threat, survival and adaptation. This DVD describes how the human brain has evolved, explains the basic structures of the brain and functional purpose of each structure, describes the effects of trauma on the brain and explains how EMDR-AIP restores higher order processing.

Part 2: Basic Neurobiology - Implications for PTSD, EMDR & AIP (DVD running time = 90 mins)

This DVD will help clinicians identify the basic structures in neurobiology, understand how neuro-networks are formed and the importance of human interaction in this process, describe the brain's primary function of survival, which results in over stabilization of pathways set down during trauma and understand how "plastic" the neural networks are, which allows for neurological based therapies such as EMDR to be effective.

Part 3: Exploring the Thalamus & Neural Integration (DVD running time = 98 mins)
Click Here for DVD Lending Agreement Form

This DVD reviews Dr. Uri Bergmann's recent formulation of the neuriobiology of EMDR, revisits in greater detail the functional anatomy of brain components introduced in the (Part 1) DVD on evolution, describes neuronal oscillation, memory and thalamo-cortical temporal binding and describes the activity of the thalamus in relationship to EMDR processing.

Part 4: Brain Development & Erikson's Psycho-Social Developmental (DVD running time = 96 mins)

This DVD explores the relationship between neurobiology, EMDR-AIP and Erikson's Psycho-Social Developmental Model. When one integrates these three modalities, we can understand how clients get "stuck" in the present with the negative cognitions, cognitive delays and behavioral mal-adaptations that are consistent with the various stages of neurological development and the corresponding stages of psycho-social development at the time of the abuse or trauma.

EMDR and Panic Disorders (DVD running time = 90 mins)
2010 EMDRIA Conference DVD Recording with Carl Nickeson, Ph.D.

In panic disorder interoceptive cues become triggers for subsuquent panic attacks and it is useful to view panic disorders as a phobic reaction to bodily sensations. This DVD will describe how to use EMDR in the treatment of panic disorder. Information will be given on what needs to be accomplished in each of the 8 phases of EMDR to be effective with this population.

EMDR Masters Series - Using EMDR with Severely Dissociative Clients (DVD running time = 3 hrs)
2008 EMDRIA Conference DVD Recording with Gerald Puk, Ph.D. and Discussant Panel with Gary Peterson, M.D.

Patients experiencing severe and repeated psychological trauma are among the most complicated patients to be treated in psychotherapy. Their treatment tends to be a multi-faceted approach of which EMDR is only one part, albeit a very important component. This DVD will assist clinicians in identifying the self-regulation deficits and degree of dissociation of their patients, as well as conceptualizing and implementing an effective treatment plan for the patient.

Treating Children with Complex Trauma and Attachment Disruptions (DVD running time = 90 mins)
December 2008 Kansas City EMDRIA Regional Network DVD Recording with Sally Popper, Ph.D.

Complex trauma that occurs within the care giving environment in the first years of life has multiple, enduring costs to the child. Not only is the child dealing with the legacy of trauma, but almost every area of development is stopped or skewed. This DVD will discuss the 7 domains of impairment caused by early complex trauma, and their importance for later development and will also focus pn the impact of attachment, especially as children later move to another family or remain with birth-parents who have recovered from their own disturbances.

Integrating EMDR in the Treatment of Eating Disorders (DVD running time = 4 hrs 30 mins)
2007 EMDRIA Conference DVD Recording with Linda J. Cooke, LCSW, BCD and Celia Grand, LCSW, BCD
Click Here for DVD Lending Agreement Form

Paralleling phase-oriented treatment for trauma, this DVD focuses on stabilization skills utilizing state-to-state techniques with or without bilateral stimulation; working through underlying traumatic experiences utilizing the standard protocol; and future template work for integration of the psychobiological changes.

Know the Why & How to Choose Your What: Some Essentials of EMDR Model and Methodology
(DVD running time = 3 hrs)
2006 EMDRIA Conference DVD Recording with Francine Shapiro, Ph.D.
Click Here for DVD Lending Agreement Form

In its 20 year history, EMDR has evolved from a simple technique into an integrative psychotherapy approach with a theoretical model that emphasizes the brain's information processing system and memories of disturbing experiences as the basis of pathology. This DVD will explore some essential conceptual and procedural elements necessary to practice EMDR. A thorogh understanding of these elements allows for both flexibility and comprehensive attention to the full clinicial picture.

EMDR: Working with Grief (DVD running time = 95 mins)
1999 DVD Recording of an EMDR demonstration of grief work with Francine Shapiro, Ph.D.
Click Here for DVD Lending Agreement Form

Dr. Francine Shapiro illustrates her 8 phase EMDR protocol with Angie, a recovering addict struggling with the sudden loss of her lover. Prefacing this session is an interview with series hosts Jon Carlson and Diane Kjos, in which Shapiro explains the basic principles underlying her approach. In a concluding "director's cut" segment, Dr. Shapiro discusses her rationale behind the steps of the 8-phase Protocol. Clinicians, especially those who are new to EMDR, will benefit from seeing Dr. Shapiro's model and step-by-step discussion of her rationale.
