Mark G. Doherty, CAE

As Executive Director, Mark Doherty is the Chief Staff Officer responsible for the overall performance and effectiveness of EMDRIA as an association and business. Mark reports to and works closely with the Board of Directors to implement policies, carry out EMDRIA’s mission and vision, oversee operations and finances, and guide the staff in achieving the EMDRIA’s goals and benchmarks. Mark has been involved in running professional associations for more than 30 years. He has BS and MS degrees from Xavier University in Cincinnati and an MBA from Virginia Tech. He earned the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives.



Gayla Turner, CAE

Gayla Turner first joined the EMDRIA staff in 1997 as Conference Coordinator. In 2001, she was promoted to Associate Director, supervising the daily operations of the Association under the direction of the Executive Director. In 2012, she was appointed as Deputy Executive Director. Gayla works closely with the Executive Director, EMDRIA Board and several EMDRIA committees. She also handles staff, financial, and business operations of the organization. Gayla holds the Certified Association Executive (CAE) designation from the American Society of Association Executives. She has been a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives and the American Society of Association Executives since 2003.

 

Sarah Frazier

Administrative Coordinator

The newest addition to EMDRIA, Sarah handles product orders, payment processing and manages all of EMDRIA's social media accounts. She also helps other EMDRIA staff members with their administrative duties when needed. Sarah earned her bachelors in Business Administration from Tartleton State University in 2016 and is a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives. 

 

Susanna Kaufman

Standards & Training Administrative Coordinator

Susanna is the first impression to the public and to members calling on the phone while keeping the day-to-day processes here at EMDRIA running smoothly and efficiently. She handles payments received, monitors the email stream and keeps up with the daily flow of EMDRIA Certification and Approved Consultant renewals and applications. Susanna has always been interested in people and social interactions and is currently pursuing her Master's Degree in Counseling at Texas State University. She has been a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives since 2015. She also enjoys teaching piano lessons, gardening and relaxing with her husband and two pets. 





Christal Rosa

Membership Development Coordinator

Christal Rosa joined EMDRIA in June 2013 and serves as back-end site administrator for the EMDRIA member database. She is responsible for maintaining site functions and reporting. She also serves as the community manager. As the Membership Development Coordinator, she develops goals and tools for member recruitment and retention. She is a member of Texas Society of Association Executives and is working towards becoming a Certified Association Executive (CAE).

 

                   

Sara Sturtevant

Continuing Professional Education Coordinator

Sara has been involved in nonprofit organizations, education, and program planning for 14 years. Her background is in planning, organizing, and improving non-formal education programs. Sara spent 12 years with the Cooperative Extension Service, serving North Carolina, Indiana, and Louisiana. She has a BS degree from North Carolina State University and an MS degree from Purdue University. Sara spearheads EMDRIA's e-Learning platform and works with Regional Coordinators. She is passionate about making connections with people, meeting the unique needs of learners, and building a positive community environment.  In her spare time, she and her husband love to travel, visit friends and family, and go hiking with their dog, Bingley.

Sarah joined EMDRIA in July 2011. She handles EMDRIA Certification and Approved Consultant applications and renewals, EMDR Training Provider applications, as well as EMDRIA Credit Provider and Program applications.

 

 

Bergen Villegas

Membership Services Coordinator

Bergen Villegas joined EMDRIA in March 2014 and serves as Membership Services Coordinator. She provides administrative support for the general membership and public with digital and direct communication. Bergen assists with  payment processing and financial reporting. She also assists the Membership Development Coordinator in site management and front end community management. Bergen strives to provide a positive and memorable experience for EMDRIA members. A self-proclaimed “nerd”, Bergen is passionate about linking EMDRIA and technology into a cohesive and member friendly experience. She has been a member of the Texas Society of Association Executives since 2014 and a member of the American Society of Association Executives since 2016.
