Actress Ashley Judd, daughter of Naomi and sister of Wynonna, who comprised the award-winning country music duo The Judds, recently told The Guardian that she went back to EMDR therapy after being traumatized by news outlets who chose to publish pictures of her mother’s death scene. Ms. Judd advocates that the Tennesee State Legislature restricts journalists’ access to non-criminal death scene photos, suicide notes, and other evidence to protect the surviving family members and the deceased person’s legacy. Read more about her efforts on January 30, 2023, Guardian article here.
ABC News also interviewed Ms. Judd to discuss her EMDR therapy and advocacy in her home state of Tennessee so that family members of those who die by suicide can protect their privacy. EMDRIA is quoted in this news article.
CNN and GEO News also picked up the news story where Ms. Judd mentions EMDR therapy.
