About Me
Hi, my name is Abraham Kou and I’m a second-generation American Chinese mental health counselor providing services to adult California, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey residents. My areas of focus are PTSD, OCD, social phobia, and substance use problems. I view EMDR therapy as an effective way to bring down the charge of adverse memories and bring up positive ways of seeing yourself. In addition to being certified in EMDR therapy, I'm also intensively trained in Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), an essential behavioral treatment for managing OCD.
Education & Experience
I'm a California, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, and Licensed Professional Counselor (#11427, LPC #010629, #37PC00920400). I was originally trained with with Roy Kiessling’s belief-focused approach through EMDR Consulting and completed additional IFS-Informed EMDR training with Bruce Hersey and Flash Technique training with Philip Manfield. My professional experience is in outpatient/intensive outpatient methadone maintenance, residential drug and alcohol treatment, and crisis counseling.
