About Me
Sometimes, there are thoughts, memories, and moods that are causing us distress. Often, when we try to express these to others, we are left feeling more confused about what we are feeling or misunderstood afterward. Sometimes words fail us, and we cannot find the right way to express ourselves, and then we find ourselves repeating the same cycles. I have found in my work that when words fail, art can help us bridge that language dead-end. I am a registered Art Therapist; I believe that art is innately human and can provide a safe space to initiate growth and change in individuals. As a trauma-focused therapist, I view all clients through a trauma lens. The distressing experiences we have had in the past are affecting and influencing the present moment. I provide trauma processing through Art Therapy & EMDR. There are no "supposed tos"; only your process and I will meet you where you are.
Education & Experience
I'm Adrienne Terese Iannazzo, and my journey in the world of mental health and art therapy has been a passionate one. I hold a Master's degree in Art Therapy from The George Washington University, which became the foundation of my commitment to healing and self-discovery. My introduction to counseling began with a role as a phone counselor for a crisis and suicide hotline. Here, I learned the profound importance of providing empathetic support to individuals in their times of need. I also dedicated my time to a program that focused on assisting veterans with PTSD, helping them reintegrate into their communities through the therapeutic medium of sailing. During my Masters program, I had the privilege of gaining hands-on experience through internships at a psychiatric hospital and an outpatient clinic. These experiences allowed me to refine my skills in working with individuals facing a wide spectrum of mental health challenges. Upon graduation, I embarked on a fulfilling career in community mental health, dedicating 3.5 years to making a meaningful impact in the lives of my clients. My journey then led me to a private practice, where I continued to provide compassionate care for 2.5 years. In addition to my academic achievements, I'm trained by EMDRIA in EMDR therapy, and I'm currently under supervision as I work toward certification in EMDR. My dedication to professional growth has also led me to acquire expertise in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Complex Trauma, TREM, and Advanced Mindfulness training. Today, I've embarked on a new chapter by founding my own private practice, Symbiosis Mental Health and Wellness. My extensive background, education, and unwavering passion for healing make me a trusted guide for individuals on their journey to emotional well-being and self-empowerment.
