Allison Margolis, LICSW
(she/her)
About Me
Allison works with adults and adolescents looking for support in navigating life transitions, managing stress, and regulating emotions. Her approach balances acceptance of emotions with providing actionable skills for creating change. She specializes in evidence-based therapy modalities, including Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and Prolonged Exposure (PE), among many others. Allison also offers individual DBT skills coaching for clients who wish to develop skills for modulating emotions, tolerating distress, improving interpersonal effectiveness, and enhancing mindfulness. Allison believes therapy is just as much about building on strengths as it is about ameliorating problems. She is passionate about partnering with individuals to understand and address the barriers to their ability to thrive. Her approach is characterized by directness and authenticity, along with non-judgment, compassion, and humor. Allison holds a BS from Cornell University and MSW from Boston College. Her training included counseling students at Boston College and providing DBT at Massachusetts Mental Health Center. Allison previously held positions in McLean Hospital's Depression and Anxiety Disorders and Psychotic Disorders Divisions, and MGH's Ketamine Clinic for Depression.
