About Me

Amanda MacDonald is a Registered Clinical Social Worker, Certified EMDR Therapist, and a Clinical Trauma Specialist. She has been practicing for over 17 years working with children, adolescents, adults, and their families. Amanda completed the Master of Social Work and Bachelor of Social Work, Honours programs, at Kings’ University College, at the University of Western Ontario. Amanda specializes in the areas of complex trauma, attachment injuries, anxiety, depression, sexual abuse, resiliency and domestic violence. Amanda continues to pursue her professional development on an ongoing basis and has completed the Circle of Security Safe Base Coding System training and offers Therapeutic Parenting education to individuals and groups upon request. Amanda’s goals for the future include, continuing her education to become an EMDR consultant and to specialize in alternative mind-body trauma interventions and play & art therapy techniques. Philosophy of Care From the beginning of her social work career, Amanda has believed that personal growth, development, and positive change occurs everyday in human life. Using a collaborative, strengths-based approach, building support systems and enhancing relationships are key while working along the side of children, adolescents, caregivers, and adults. Through a trauma and attachment lens, founded in neuroscience, Amanda will support individuals and families to set therapeutic goals, heal from adverse life experiences, and uncover their innate strength and resiliency.
