About Me
Symptoms of trauma can overwhelm and exhaust us, pulling us away from our authentic selves. EMDR therapy acts as a compass, guiding us through these emotions with acceptance, support, and empowerment. I had the privilege of training in EMDR under the late Dr. E. C. Hurley, an esteemed trauma therapy expert, in 2016. His mentorship profoundly influenced my career and approach to treating combat-related trauma. In 2020, I continued my training with Dr. Hurley, covering topics such as The Dissociative Spectrum from Acute Stress to Complex PTSD, Treating Shame, Guilt, and Moral Injury, Addressing Dissociative Exhibitions and Suicidality, and Telehealth and EMDR. Building on my expertise in trauma treatment, I offer integrative therapy methods tailored to address concerns related to sex, sleep, depression, anxiety, and substance use.
Education & Experience
I completed my Master's in Social Work at Western Michigan University in 2009, achieving LMSW-C status by 2012. To expand my qualifications, I obtained the Board Certified Diplomate (BCD) in Social Work and the Certified Advanced Alcohol and Drug Counselor (CAADC) credentials in 2015. Additionally, I earned certification as a Certified Sex Therapy Informed Professional in 2023. My professional journey began as a Mental Health Clinician in the civilian community and later led to a fulfilling career as an active duty service member. Now, as a veteran, I’m dedicated to supporting diverse communities, including civilians, veterans, and military personnel. My commitment to comprehensive care led me to complete various specialized trainings, including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia (CBT-I), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Prolonged Exposure Therapy (PE).
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I'm an active member of professional associations like EMDRIA, ABCSW and NASW, which keep me connected to the latest developments in mental health. I’m also involved with MOAA, reflecting my commitment to supporting military communities. Additionally, I engage in a consultative group with esteemed colleagues, fostering collaboration and expertise in our shared field.
