Ms. Deborah Kish, LCMHC, NCC, NBCC
About Me
I am originally from California, but have lived around the world as my father was an officer in the Military. I earned a Bachelor's degree from the University of New Mexico, majoring in Psychology. I received my Master's of Arts in Christian Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary-Charlotte. I am Licensed Professional Counselor/Psychotherapist and am recognized as a Nationally Certified Counselor by the National Board for Certified Counselors. I currently live in Huntersville, NC with my three children. My warm, collaborative approach allows individuals to discover deeper truths, reconnect with their true selves, and gain a fuller acceptance of strengths and struggles. Counseling is a space for transparency, compassion and vulnerability in the midst of the challenges you face. I value the importance of genuine connection, authenticity, empathy and respect. I create a non-judgmental, nurturing space for clients to explore interpersonally, process their stories, and acquire skills to accomplish set goals.
Education & Experience
My areas of expertise range from addiction/substance abuse, trauma, relationships, life transitions, self-esteem, identity issues, spiritual/faith integration, anxiety, depression, grief and loss to more severe mental illness such as mood and personality disorders. I am trained in EMDR, Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Focused Therapy and ZONES of Regulation.
