About Me

Given the challenges of our times including COVID-19, inflation, digital overload, reductions of force, and social unrest, I strive to promote wellness through vulnerability, authenticity, healing, rest, community, and joy. I aim to ensure that each session is an inclusive, safe, and supportive space that takes into account your identity, personal history, and the environments and systems in which you exist. I believe that true wellness encompasses the mind, body, and spirit. Together we will develop an individualized treatment plan using evidence based interventions to enhance your mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual wellbeing. You can expect reflective tasks and guided homework between sessions, breath and meditation exercises, and somatic practices that help you reconnect with your body and deepen your healing. Interventions include: Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Somatic Therapy, Attachment-Based, Narrative, Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, and Solution Focused.

Education & Experience

I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) in DC, Maryland, Virginia, and Florida with extensive experience in mental health and social justice. I have a Masters in Social Work with a Certificate in Mental Health from the University of Pittsburgh and a Bachelor of Arts in Forensic Science and Psychology from Syracuse University. I started as a forensic social worker at the Royal Courts of Justice in London, UK, a child advocate at a law firm in Pittsburgh, and eventually a Certified Forensic Interviewer in New York where I assisted in the investigation and prosecution of cases of child sexual abuse. These experiences solidified my passion for supporting trauma survivors and inspired me to further pursue clinical social work. I went on to academia, where I held academic appointments as a Clinical Instructor of Social Work at Yale University School of Medicine and as a Field Instructor at the University of Houston, where I published research, worked with students, and advocated for systemic changes in mental health. I have also delivered presentations at various institutions and conferences including the Human Rights Commission, Yale Medicine, and the University of Tennessee. Currently, I continue to support clients at Embracing Wellness LLC.
