About Me
My name is Karin, I am a licensed clinical social worker with several years of experience providing effective and compassionate psychotherapy. I was trained by the Personal Transformation Institute in 2022. I work to foster a sense of safety, and collaboration with my clients in order to meet goals and create change. I believe in validating my clients, and joining them while problem solving. I value authenticity both in and outside of therapy, and hope to create a space where everyone can feel safe to be their full authentic selves and explore different parts of themselves. I am also bilingual in Spanish/English, and of Guatemalan heritage.
Education & Experience
I received my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology and a Master of Social Work from Virginia Commonwealth University. I completed a concentration year master’s level internship and post-master’s residency at Virginia Commonwealth University’s Counseling Services. I am currently pursuing a PhD in Social work at Sacred Heart University. I have spent the majority of my career working in various college counseling centers, with adults of all ages and concerns of all types. I have been part of multiple eating disorder consultation teams within these universities. I have also worked in community mental health, and practices/agencies specializing in working with neurodiverse individuals. Prior to receiving my Master of Social Work I was involved in public health research and community mentorship.
