About Me

Matea Kosar (she/her) is a Registered Social Worker and Psychotherapist specializing in trauma, PTSD, and reproductive mental health. She provides EMDR therapy to adults impacted by single-incident and complex trauma, including refugees, immigrants, war survivors, and individuals affected by interpersonal violence, displacement, and loss. Her work is trauma-informed, attachment-based, and culturally responsive. Drawing on both clinical training and lived experience as a war survivor, and immigrant, Matea offers a compassionate and grounded approach to EMDR therapy. Matea also specializes in women’s reproductive mental health, including perinatal and postpartum mental health, infertility, and pregnancy and infant loss. Her work integrates EMDR with attachment-based and strengths-focused approaches to support nervous system regulation, emotional integration, and healing. She is EMDRIA Certified and known for her warm, collaborative, and attuned therapeutic style, creating a safe and respectful space for clients to process trauma at their own pace.

Education & Experience

Matea Kosar specializes in women’s reproductive and maternal mental health and trauma-focused care. She has experience working with pregnant and postpartum clients, individuals experiencing infertility, refugees and those navigating complex trauma and PTSD. She has provided clinical services across a variety of professional settings. Matea completed a Certification in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Women’s Reproductive Mental Health at Wilfrid Laurier University and has advanced training in perinatal and postpartum mental health, infertility, and pregnancy and infant loss. She has also completed specialized training in EMDR for Attachment Injuries and Ego State Interventions, reflecting her focus on attachment and relational trauma. Her training further includes Cognitive Processing Therapy for PTSD, Trauma-Focused ACT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy for Grief and Loss, Dialectical Behavioural Therapy (DBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing, supporting her integrative, evidence-based approach to therapy.
