About Me

MEGAN SHANE, LICSW (SHE/HER) Megan is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker who received her Masters in Social Work degree from the University of St. Thomas/St. Catherine University. Megan firmly believes that her calling to psychotherapy is an incredible privilege as she is able to walk beside others experiencing difficult times, to witness the incredible strength and resiliency in the human journey we call life. She believes everyone of us has the ability to heal from within. She had the privilege of working in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) while obtaining her bachelor’s degree. Megan spent 9 years working in an ER setting post graduate degree assessing children, adolescents, and adults experiencing mental health crisis. She also supported families experiencing the loss of a child. She then decided to spend several years at home raising her 4 children. During those years, life took many twists and turns which resulted in continued growth and self awareness as a mom, partner, and clinician. Upon returning to work, Megan had the privilege to again use her passion and strengths to work with and walk alongside families experiencing difficult circumstances in a Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) setting. Specialties: Megan is Certified as a Clinical Trauma Specialist for Individuals, CCTS-I, through the Arizona Trauma Institute. Megan is a Perinatal Specialist in the process of working on Perinatal Mental Health certification through Postpartum Support International. Megan is trained in EMDR and passionate about the difference it can make in the lives of her clients to be able process through difficult trauma, and to help neutralize the harmful impacts it has on our bodies. Megan also uses a 5 Net-Narrative approach if client’s have enough memory and wish to process trauma/grief and loss in story form. Megan believes so strongly in the power of Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction as it has greatly impacted her own work towards wellness, and utilizes this to help clients learn the tools and benefits to live in a relaxed muscle body. Living in a relaxed muscle body most of the time is a true gift she has found and she wishes to share with others. Areas of Focus: Megan’s offer individual and couples therapy for clients. Areas of focus include client’s struggling with perinatal mood or anxiety disorders. She also has a passion for working with parents experiencing high risk pregnancies, parents who have experienced traumatic births, perinatal loss, people experiencing adjustment issues related to parenting. Megan also has a passion for working with adults who are navigating Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, general life transitions, grief and loss, anxiety, as well as other life events. Treatment Approach: Megan believes in a holistic approach to working with clients using a trauma informed lens and a strengths based perspective. Megan utilities various therapeutic modalities including Mindfulness based treatment approaches with focus on mind/body connection, EMDR, Narrative therapy, Solution Focused as well as Cognitive Behavior Therapy.
