About Me

I am Patrycja (Patricia) Toczek, a qualified accredited Mental Health Social Worker with 15 years’ experience in the clinical mental health field. I am a professional member of the Australian Association of Social Workers and Australian Association of Family Therapists. I have extensive clinical practice working in both public and private mental health settings with individuals, couples and families. I specialize in working with people experiencing of mental illness and trauma. I am a trained couple and family therapist and enjoy working with these groups supporting them with challenges they face, strengthening their coping skills, and developing more positive interactions. My work is characterized by a client-centered strength approach drawing on and adding to the individual’s resources through a trustful, reliable and authentic relationship focused on the individual's goals. I am passionate about empowering clients towards achieving their life potential by understanding and overcoming obstacles and unhelpful patterns they encounter. In my work I utilize a range of therapeutic approaches and interventions. My work is strongly trauma orientated with EMDR being my main modality of practice. Some of my other therapeutic approaches include: ACT, mindfulness, DBT, other trauma-orientated modalities such as: havening and Internal Family Systems. What makes my approach different is a holistic approach taking into consideration wider systemic factors, relationship networks and trauma-informed approach addressing feelings created often by debilitating impact of adverse life events and resulting in feelings of hopelessness and stagnation.
