About Me
I am drawn to support clients heal the anxiety, guilt and shame from trauma. This may include trauma related to abuse, bullying, accidents, harassment, religious impositions, discrimination, and more. My clients often want to feel less anxiety, better manage their triggers, enjoy sexual intercourse with their partner, and redefine themselves from the trauma they experienced. Grounding techniques, challenging learned beliefs, asserting needs, and living more for self, are common themes in my practice and essential for post-traumatic growth. Integrating identities (e.g. race, ethnicity, sexuality, etc.) is common in my practice. I offer an integrative model that incorporates evidenced-based approaches, therapeutic relationship, intuition, culture- and spiritual-centered healing. I am trained in and enjoy using Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and more. I welcome diversity in all of its forms, especially queer people of color and non-monogamous relationships. It can be difficult to find a right match for therapy, especially if your therapist may not reflect your unique background. If you are seeking a bilingual (English/Spanish), multicultural therapist of color with whom you can discuss the issues listed in my profile and website, then you are welcome to contact me to see if we are a good fit.
Education & Experience
In 2011, I received my Masters of Social Welfare at the University of California, Berkeley. In 2014, I became licensed by the state of California’s Board of Behavioral and Sciences to practice psychotherapy as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW). My license number is 64671. During graduate school, I provided bilingual (English/Spanish) individual, family and group psychotherapy to adolescent patients, and their families, in an in-patient psychiatric hospital, and to children, adolescent, adult, and elderly clients in an outpatient, community mental health clinic. After graduate school, I provided bilingual (English/Spanish) individual, family, and group psychotherapy to adult and elderly clients living with mental illness, substance abuse, and acute and chronic illness in integrative, multidisciplinary community mental health and medical hospital settings. I am an integrative therapist who believes in treating the “whole” person (mindbodyheartspirit), and the impact of the systems they belong to. I apply several lenses, including, but not limited to trauma-informed, attachment-focused, consent-based, anti-oppressive, poly- and kink-affirming, culturally- and linguistically-responsive. I first trained in Eye-Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) in 2012 and have since expanded my understanding and practice of this approach. I integrative my multiple lenses of attachment and somatic into EMDR. In addition to EMDR, I have trained in other approaches, which include Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotion Focused Therapy (EFT), and more. I continually seek educational training and consultation to expand my clinical experience. I work collaborative with my clients and utilize techniques from several modalities to help them reach their goals.
