Preferred Name: Laura
About Me
Sydney has been in the counseling field working in community mental health for over 6 years. She continues to grow in her practice and passion for helping others by being an advocate for mental health, receiving ongoing training, and reflecting on her time with each of her clients. Her experiences have allowed her to gain an in depth understanding on the impact that trauma has on one’s brain, body, and behaviors so that she can utilize the most effective treatments with her clients. Specialty populations served include young adults and women who have PTSD, mood and depression challenges, anxiety, and other general mental health challenges. Her client-centered approach supports her beliefs that her clients have the innate ability, strength, and resilience to overcome life’s most distressing experiences and challenges. She aims to meet her clients where they are to build a therapeutic alliance and create a safe space for them to heal.
Education & Experience
Sydney is certified in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and is a certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP). ART is a type of treatment that utilizes calming bilateral eye movements and a technique called voluntary image/memory replacement so that her clients can break emotional, physical, and emotional pain often associated with traumatic experiences. Along with ART, Sydney utilizes an eclectic treatment style to address each individual patient’s needs including body-based techniques, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Mindfulness, and strength’s-based practices.
