Online Course
This online course focuses on building cultural competence and sharpening case conceptualization skills when working with military veterans and first responders. Participants will review current prevalence data for PTSD, depression, anxiety, suicidality, and related medical comorbidities in these populations, and examine how occupational culture, cumulative trauma, and moral injury shape symptom presentation and treatment engagement. This course integrates the latest VA/DoD PTSD treatment guidelines and contemporary EMDR research, with specific attention to where the evidence is strong, where it is mixed, and where gaps remain. Using an EMDR-informed framework, clinicians will learn to map military and first responder histories into clear past–present–future target plans and begin to differentiate when standard 8-phase EMDR is sufficient and when additional adaptations or formats may be indicated.
