This online course explores how relational enactments—unconscious, repetitive relational patterns rooted in early attachment experiences—can persist even after successful EMDR reprocessing of identifiable traumatic memories. Using a detailed clinical case, the presenters illustrate how a highly functioning client experienced repeated relational disappointments despite prior EMDR work that effectively resolved historical targets related to betrayal, loss, and grief. The case highlights a common clinical dilemma: clients improve symptomatically, yet familiar relational themes continue to “echo” in present-day relationships. Rather than viewing this as treatment failure, the presenters frame these patterns as enduring attachment-based templates that organize perceptions of safety, threat, connection, and self-worth.
