During an acute traumatic event like a global pandemic, or other earth-shaking disturbances, psychotherapists, like other industries, find themselves having to reinvent from the ground up to adjust to changing times and circumstances. Moreover, therapists themselves are not exempt from the same terror, bereavement and other reactions as the clients they treat. Case formulation and treatment planning must accommodate client’s new priorities and problems. Mutual safety and therapist self-care is paramount in this brave new world.
