This online course is designed for EMDR therapists who find themselves treating first-responders, active military and veterans with a broad range of pathology from acute stress to complex PTSD. The course addresses understanding the way of life for these special populations, treating acute stress, PTSD and C-PTSD with EMDR therapy. The EMDR Early Intervention (EEI) models with both individual and group applications are discussed, the use of EMD, EMD-contained, and EMDR approaches, along with the integration of phase 2 Preparation during extended preparation along with Phase 4 Desensitization, defining Ego States, Structural Dissociation, and complex trauma are noted. Treating dissociative exhibitions across the spectrum, as well as case conceptualization and treatment planning are reviewed. Videos demonstrating the lessons learned are integrated throughout the training. Clinical presentations of trauma are described. The development of complex PTSD is noted with associated symptoms. Clinical practice guidelines for complex PTSD and identified with a critical evaluation of the complex PTSD literature. The current state of EMDR therapy in the treatment of C-PTSD is discussed. Additionally, the treatment of persons with PTSD and traumatic brain injury (TBI)s are presented. Persons complete this training with a new awareness of treating various levels of symptom severity effectively with EMDR therapy.
