The required text (not included), The Haunted Self: Structural Dissociation and the Treatment of Chronic Traumatization (Van der Hart, Nijenhuis, & Steele, 2006), offers both a clear framework and practical guidance. Participants will explore the differences between PTSD and complex PTSD, how dissociative parts (Apparently Normal Parts and Emotional Parts) develop, and how trauma disrupts the brain, memory, identity, and regulation.
