About Me

Hello, my name is Juanita. I am a Clinical Psychologist dedicated to providing compassionate, client-centred, evidence-based care. My therapeutic approach is collaborative and respectful, ensuring individuals feel heard, supported, and empowered throughout the process of change. I integrate several well-established modalities into my practice, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT), Schema Therapy, Attachment Theory, and Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is a central part of my work with clients recovering from trauma, processing distressing life experiences, and navigating significant transitions. I work with adolescents, adults, and parents facing a wide range of emotional, behavioural, and relational challenges. My previous career in the corporate sector (2001–2013) gives me a unique perspective in supporting clients navigating both personal and professional issues. As a mother of three neurodivergent children, I have an appreciation for individual differences and a strong commitment to helping people care for their mental health in ways that are meaningful, respectful, and aligned with their values and lived experience.

Education & Experience

I hold a Master of Psychology (Clinical) from the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) and a Bachelor of Business Information Systems from RMIT University in Melbourne. My clinical experience includes work in private practice (JB Clinical Psychology, Remarkability), Child and Youth Mental Health Services (CYMHS), university student wellbeing programs, school-based mental health services, and crisis and bereavement support. I have worked across a range of clinical settings including private practice, youth mental health services, education, and crisis support. I began my studies in Psychology in 2013 after transitioning from a career as a senior manager in the corporate sector to psychology and corporate coaching. Prior to psychology from 2001 to 2013, I held roles at Andersen, Ernst & Young, and Airservices Australia. This blend of experience allows me to bring both strategic insight and psychological depth to the individuals and professionals I work with.

Professional & Volunteer Affiliations

I am a member of the Australian Clinical Psychology Association (ACPA), the Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing Association of Australia (EMDRAA), and the Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association (EMDRIA). These affiliations reflect my commitment to ongoing professional development and maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice in psychology and trauma-informed care.
