Approved for 2.5 EMDRIA Credits
This presentation explores the integration of play therapy principles and sensory-informed interventions into the eight phases of EMDR therapy. Participants will gain foundational knowledge of sensory processing and the role of movement, touch, and embodied experiences in regulating arousal and enhancing client engagement. Emphasis is placed on using vestibular, proprioceptive, and tactile input to support children and youth in processing trauma through an adaptive information processing (AIP) lens. Attendees will learn to assess clients’ arousal states and tailor interventions, accordingly, promoting optimal regulation and therapeutic readiness. Practical tools for building a sensory toolbox, enhancing caregiver collaboration, and applying creative play-based techniques across EMDR phases will be shared. This interactive session empowers clinicians to deepen attunement, increase flexibility in therapeutic approaches, and support meaningful transformation for clients navigating trauma, grief, and emotional dysregulation through an integrated, embodied EMDR process.
