About Me
I am a passionate advocate for diverse groups and have a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision. My research focuses on cultural humility and social justice advocacy. I am well-versed in the dynamics that contribute to behavioral health issues and mental health disparities. I have a deep compassion for the underserved and communities of color, and LGBTQI+ communities. I am trained in EMDR trauma therapy and work deeply with Attachment Theory and trauma-focused healing, and Narcissistic Abuse Treatment. As a former school counselor, I greatly understand systemic barriers, the impact of childhood experiences, and foundational issues that can impact one's life. I work from a Relational-Cultural Theoretical position and believe that partnering and working together allows for shared power and learning. I acknowledge that true help and understanding come from recognizing that systemic dynamics impact behavioral health. Additionally, I am trauma-informed and understand that trauma holds within our brains and bodies. I have endured a personal journey through trauma therapy and continue to grow and work on myself. I strive to normalize experiences and share the understanding that therapy is hard work and sometimes intimidating. My goal is to provide a safe and connected environment of support.
Education & Experience
I was a trained school counselor for ten years and have been in the private practice realm for 4 years. I also did some work in Intensive Outpatient Groups. I have a Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and my research focus was in Multicultural and Social Justice Advocacy in K-12 School Counseling.
