Course Description
This workshop discusses tools to increase the utilization of EMDR therapy in university settings. College students experience high rates of sexual assault and other traumatic events. Campus counseling services face challenges due to great diversity of the student population, a brief therapy model, and the complexity of traumatic events that impact the students’ life and academic performance. College counseling offers an opportunity to increase awareness and understanding of EMDR and its effectiveness to process trauma with diverse populations including different migration status, race, gender, and sexual orientation. This workshop—led by Viviana Urdaneta, LCSW—will describe ideas to provide psycho-education, case conceptualization, treatment planning, and intervention.
