Course Description

Panelists—Layla Asamarai, PSy.D, LP; Kriss Jarecki, LCSWR; Cheryl Kenn, LCSW; Mark Nickerson, LICSW; and Yunetta Smith, LPC-MHSP, NCC—respond to questions regarding EMDR Consultants and IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) such as how can consultants develop and maintain cultural awareness and humility? What does it mean to offer EMDR consultation that strives to work with decolonization/anti-racist lenses? And what does the term “broaching” from Norma Day-Vines look like in consultation? The panel is moderated by Viviana Urdaneta.

Learning Objectives

These learning objectives apply to the entire Consultant Day 2023 program.

1. Participants will be able to identify strategies for discussing issues of IDEA (Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Access) during the EMDR consultation process.
2. Participants will be able to discuss possible dilemmas and challenges during the consultation process.
3. Participants will be able to describe the importance of case conceptualization and clinical decision making for the professional growth and development of EMDR Therapists.
4. Participants will be able to describe specific ways to assess fidelity to the standard protocol when working with consultees for EMDR certification.
