Course Description
New to EMDR therapy? Feeling a little rusty after all of these years? Guilty of a little “EMDR drift?” Come along to this 8 phase refresher of Dr. Francine Shapiro’s Standard Protocol for EMDR therapy and be reminded of the basic fundamentals. Fidelity studies show adherence to the Standard Protocol is key to EMDR success. This presentation will provide a brief review of how AIP Theory and the 3 prongs of past, present, and future guide case conceptualization. A more detailed review of the 8 phases will be the focus for the seminar. Whether you serve children, adolescents, adults, various populations and/or presenting problems, you’ll want to adhere to the Standard Protocol while letting your work unfold naturally according to your own therapeutic and clinical style. This seminar will address the balance of being yourself while maintaining overall fidelity in the work.
Learning Objectives
- Participants will be able to briefly explain the main concepts of AIP Theory and how this theory guides EMDR therapy.
- Participants will be able to correctly identify and describe the general goals of all 8 phases of the Standard Protocol.
- Participants will be able to discuss the importance of addressing all three prongs of past, present, and future as they pertain to case conceptualization and administration of EMDR therapy.
