Alyson Fortner, LCSW
(she/her)
About Me
I am a proud Mexican-American, anti-racist, trauma-informed (trained in TF-CBT and EMDR), and collaborative therapist. I work to break down mental health stigma with a compassionate, collaborative atmosphere where you can express yourself without judgement. Past traumas, current stressors, attachments, and relationships all come into play. Using art, CBT, EMDR, radical acceptance, mindfulness, feminist, and strengths-based lenses we can work towards your goals!
Education & Experience
Alyson draws on a range of evidence-based practices in her clinical work, including EMDR, Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), and Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy (DDP). She is also trained in harm reduction, crisis intervention, and creative arts therapies, which allows her to adapt her approach to meet the unique needs of each client. She has extensive experience working with youth and families involved in the foster care system, juvenile justice system, and housing-insecure communities. Alyson regularly supports children and teens who have experienced complex trauma, such as abuse, neglect, and exposure to community violence. She works closely with caregivers, schools, and support systems to foster long-term, sustainable healing and growth. Clients often describe Alyson’s style as warm, respectful, and engaging. She believes in meeting clients where they are and creating a safe, flexible space that honors their strengths and lived experiences.
