About Me
I began my career right out of college, working two jobs as a mental health technician—one at an adolescent residential facility and the other at an adult inpatient setting. It was a period of growth, both professionally and personally, as I gained a deep understanding of the diverse needs of individuals struggling with mental health challenges. From there, I transitioned into providing in-home family therapy for children, adults, and families. This new role expanded my perspective on community mental health needs, as I worked to support families in navigating difficult situations right in their own home. I held these jobs while pursuing my master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling. Upon completing my degree, I took on the role of inpatient psychiatric therapist at Broadlawns Medical Center, where I had the opportunity to work with individuals in acute crises. It was here that I began to truly understand the intricacies of complex trauma, and I became more committed to helping people heal from the deep wounds they carried. From there, I moved to an outpatient non-profit organization, where I primarily worked with clients dealing with substance use, domestic violence, and trauma. It was also at this organization where I received my first training in EMDR therapy, a modality that would later become a cornerstone of my work. As I continued to grow professionally, I also stepped into the role of mental health crisis response therapist, responding to emergencies and offering immediate support to those in crisis. This experience taught me the importance of being present in the most difficult moments and reinforced my belief in the power of compassionate care. After the birth of my son in 2022, I decided to shift my focus and open a private practice. Specializing in the treatment of complex trauma, I now primarily use EMDR therapy, which has proven to be an invaluable modality in helping clients with trauma recovery. Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving clients across Iowa, Nebraska, and South Dakota, where I hold active licenses. Today, I reside in Sioux Falls, SD with my husband, Daniel, and our son, Xavier. Running my own private practice allows me to offer a more personalized approach to mental health care, where I can tailor treatment to meet the unique needs of each individual I work with. The journey has been incredibly rewarding, and I’m thankful for the opportunity to continue helping others find healing and peace.
