Amber L Leafstedt, LPC-MH, LAC

(She/Her/Hers)
Preferred Name: Amber

About Me

I became a therapist because I believe everyone deserves to feel safe, seen, and supported. I know what it’s like to carry pain and still hope for something more—and I bring that mix of compassion and realness into my work. I’m not here to “fix” you, but to walk alongside you as you heal, grow, and reconnect with who you really are. I show up with presence, humor, and heart, and I hold space for all parts of you—especially the ones that feel too messy, too much, or too tender.

Education & Experience

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor–Mental Health (LPC-MH) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) with a background in both mental health and substance use treatment. My work began in addiction recovery and has grown to include a wide range of trauma-informed approaches. I’m trained in EMDR, DBT, Internal Family Systems, and mindfulness-based therapies, and I tailor my approach to fit each client’s unique needs. With years of experience supporting teens and adults through complex challenges, I bring both clinical skill and a down-to-earth presence to the therapy space.

Professional & Volunteer Affiliations

I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor–Mental Health (LPC-MH) and Licensed Addiction Counselor (LAC) in South Dakota. I’m a member of the EMDR International Association (EMDRIA) and stay active in ongoing training to support trauma-informed, evidence-based care. I also participate in local and national professional networks that focus on ethical, inclusive, and person-centered therapy practices.
