About Me

Amy B. Otzel, LPC, LMHC, is a retired U.S. Army Behavioral Health Sergeant and Iraq War Veteran whose personal journey to empower health, wellness, and the healing from trauma has enhanced her endeavor to contribute forward in helping service to others as a skilled psychotherapist, passionate educator, and dedicated advocate.

Education & Experience

Amy has earned a M.A. in Psychology; M.S. in Professional Mental Health Counseling; and M.A. in Integrative Health and Healing with a Mental Health Specialty. She is a retired U.S. Army Behavioral Health Sergeant and Iraq war Veteran with over 20 years of experience as a psychotherapist, educator, and professional development trainer with proficiencies supporting conditions of stress and trauma while emphasizing a natural health and healing recovery approach serving the military and veteran-connected community. Amy is EMDR-trained and pursuing certification. She is additionally certified in Prolonged Exposure (PE) therapy and is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) and holistic stress management practices. She has facilitated 160+ professional development seminars focusing on military cultural humility, nutrition and mental health, and integrative mental health and healing practices. Amy is a Lecturer at Yale University School of Medicine’s for the Department of Psychiatry and is adjunct graduate faculty teaching psychology and counseling at Colorado Chinese Medicine University.
