About Me

I am a counselor, Mommy, wife, sister, and friend. I have deep, loving connections and feel most sustained when my community is sustained. I love tacos, my dogs: Wednesday and Ocho, and hot yoga.

Education & Experience

I was raised in a bicultural and bilingual home and I am first generation on my father's side, so we grew up going back and forth to Mexico. I have a BA in Spanish and BS in Psychology from the University of Idaho and spent time traveling to Puerto Rico, Costa Rica, visiting Scotland and Ireland. I completed my Master of Arts in Counseling from Boise State University in 2012. That same year, I completed my EMDR Level I and II training. I have been blessed to have Katie O'Shea as a mentor and guide, in my practice from 2012-2019! For 10 years, I worked for a community health care clinic and served as the clinical supervisor for SANE Solutions, which specializes in healing traumas stemming from sexual assault. Combined with my play therapy background, I work with children as young as 2 years of age.

Professional & Volunteer Affiliations

I serve on the Advisory Board for Boise State University Counselor Education Program and provide live supervision for the practicum level graduate students. I also have a small private practice, Hernandez Harris Counseling and Consulting, LLC where I work to serve all people especially those from marginalized communities.
