Dr. Anne Ruane, PsyD

Online Therapy

About Me

My style of therapy is one that is both collaborative and supportive. I believe that all individuals have the capacity to make lasting changes in their lives. I help the individual tap into those abilities by challenging the conscious and unconscious barriers that can impede growth and change. Using psychodynamic and cognitive behavioral techniques, I provide a safe, nurturing environment where individuals can explore their challenges and unearth their full potential. I integrate EMDR into traditional talk therapy in addition to using it as a stand alone treatment.

Education & Experience

I earned my doctorate in Clinical Psychology from Pepperdine University and my Bachelor’s degree from the University of Southern California (USC). My clinical training included individual and group therapy as well as psychological and neuropsychological testing at the Veteran’s Administration (VA) Healthcare Systems in Loma Linda and Westwood, California, and the LAC+USC Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. I have also worked at mental health clinics on Los Angeles’ Skid Row, providing psychological services to homeless men and women in residential drug and alcohol recovery programs. As an Adjunct Professor at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology, I taught Personality and Advanced Assessment courses, an Introduction to Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Practicum at the doctoral level.

Professional & Volunteer Affiliations

I am a current member of The American Psychological Association (APA), California Psychological Association (CPA), and the Los Angeles County Psychological Association (LACPA), and EMDR International Association (EMDRIA).
