About Me
EMDR is the most effective treatment I have found since becoming a therapist in 2009. I have extensive training in Cognitive Behavioral and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy and use tools from those as needed, but EMDR is the only modality I'm currently providing. EMDR allows you to have a better 'relationship' with your uncomfortable/shameful/distressing memories. Once treatment is complete, you'll be able to recall details from those events without feeling a negative sense of self. This works with single incident trauma (child abuse, car accidents, assault, combat, etc) and attachment trauma (divorce, feelings of failure, thoughts of worthlessness, etc). I have also used it effectively to treat chronic pain or health issues exacerbated by stress. For example, there's a clear emotional component when someone describes their headaches as "Hopeless".
