About Me

Maria Terneus, LCSW, is a licensed clinical social worker and trauma-focused therapist with extensive experience working with individuals navigating complex trauma, attachment wounds, identity challenges, and reproductive/perinatal/postpartum mental health. She is the founder of Beyond Limits Psychotherapy, a private practice offering virtual therapy in Florida and soon in person in North Carolina, with services tailored to women, teens, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. Maria brings over a decade of experience in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatric care, community mental health, and mobile crisis response. She also spent five years in Haiti working with women who survived chronic trauma, deepening her cross-cultural perspective and her commitment to serving diverse communities. Maria is trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed approaches, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Attachment Theory, and mindfulness-based practices. Her clinical style is relational, integrative, and trauma-informed, centering both individual healing and the systemic contexts that shape clients’ lives. She is passionate about helping clients unravel shame, reclaim their worth, and build compassionate relationships with themselves and others.
