Hello! What a courageous step you are taking in your healing journey to seek therapy. Welcome. Bonfire Healing provides outpatient telehealth therapy with focus on complex mental health issues along with co-occurring issues including eating disorders, addictions, chronic medical conditions, and maladaptive behaviors. Therapy is a space to expand what is going on in your life, notice your coping mechanisms with less judgment and more curiosity, decide and move towards your personal values and find freedom. Bonnie takes a mind-body approach to healing with an eclectic style of therapy that emphasizes the innate worthiness of us all. Bonnie has a dual degree in Clinical Psychology and Nutrition from Bastyr University with specializations in trauma treatment. She utilizes eclectic bottom-up therapies including Somatic Experiencing Therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Bonnie’s Completed Trainings: Internal Family Systems (IFS) Level 2 trained through the IFS institute. Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) basic and advanced trainings and consulting completed to be a EMDRIA certified therapist. Somatic Experiencing (SE) Beginning 1-3, Intermediate 1-3, and Advanced 1 completed through Somatic Experiencing International. Bonnie began her work as a therapist in 2011, has worked in private practice setting since 2021, and her therapy background includes inpatient and outpatient eating disorder, addiction, and mental health treatment centers and with transgender females within the prison system. Bonnie is passionate around social justice issues and the importance of being competent in multicultural, LGBTQ+, BIPOC, body diversity and fatness, immigration, religious persecution and trauma, and ableism issues including equity in mental health treatment. Bonnie is both a licensed mental health counselor and certified nutritionist which allows a unique perspective on healing. She is committed to Health at Every Size ® and Body Trust to honor body diversity. Bonnie is passionate about helping you find peace within your relationship with food and your body through collaborative, intuitive, mind-body healing. This can include the integration of nutrition and mental health counseling by bringing awareness to thoughts, feelings, triggers, and moods that contribute to nutritional choices and vice versa. On a personal note, in her time outside of work, Bonnie can be found around town with her wife and kiddo at various coffee and tea shops, parks, playgrounds, and sidewalk dining. She loves cooking, fermenting, audio book listening, hiking, kayaking, and patio gardening.
