About Me
Hi, I’m Brynn, a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) in Arizona, and the founder of Desert Oak Counseling. I specialize in trauma therapy, with a focus on relational and attachment wounds, complex and childhood trauma, and addiction recovery. I am trauma-informed, inclusive and accepting, and I strive to honor each individuals lived experience. I believe that healing happens in the context of a safe, attuned relationship. That’s why I prioritize building a strong therapeutic connection where you feel seen and supported. If you’re ready to begin your healing journey, I’d be honored to walk alongside you. You can schedule a session or reach out to learn more about how we can work together.
Education & Experience
Before opening Desert Oak Counseling, I worked in a variety of settings, from residential homes and transitional housing for individuals with Serious Mental Illness (SMI), to providing art therapy in jail and facilitating LGBTQIA+ support groups. I’ve supported college students, school-age children, adult refugees, and individuals navigating addiction and trauma in a community setting. These experiences shaped my understanding of how trauma impacts the nervous system, relationships, and sense of self, which ultimately deepened my commitment to inclusive, trauma-informed care.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I’ve received advanced training, certification, and ongoing consultation in EMDR to ensure I’m offering the most effective care possible. Alongside EMDR, I integrate Internal Family Systems (IFS) to help clients reconnect with their inner parts and move toward a more empowered, integrated sense of self. My approach also draws from Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), especially techniques like radical acceptance and mindfulness, which support emotional regulation and self-compassion. I incorporate somatic practices to help clients tune into their bodies and regulate their nervous systems, and I use trauma-focused CBT to gently challenge unhelpful thought patterns shaped by adversity. Together, these modalities create a flexible framework that honors your unique healing process.
