Carolyn Yates, LMFT
About Me
As a Licensed Marriage and Family therapist, I have a wide range of clinical experiences in both inpatient and outpatient settings. I use a multi-modality approach to working with individuals, families and couples, and treat mood disorders, such as anxiety and depression, as well as behavioral and social difficulties. I also work with clients who are going through life transitions, such as divorce and loss. In addition, I am a Certified EMDR therapist. Adolescence is another area of expertise and I have worked with many teens on mental health, identity issues, self esteem, and improving communication with their parents. I also specialize in reproductive and perinatal mental health, supporting women before, during and after pregnancy, and pregnancy loss.
Education & Experience
I have completed Intensive Training in Maternal Mental Health from the Seleni Institute in New York, NY and Core Components Training through Postpartum Support International (PSI). I have also completed basic training in Emotionally-Focused Couples Therapy and work with couples looking to strengthen their relationships or work through conflict. I received my M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Fairfield University and my B.A. in Psychology from the College of the Holy Cross, and I have been in practice since 2011.
