About Me
Hi there! I'm Carrie and I'm the owner of Inner Nurture Therapy. I'm a marriage and family therapist and professional clinical counselor and I love what I do! I work with mothers who have been through trauma, helping them thrive in this new phase of life. I am an EMDR certified therapist, meaning I have specific training and experience in a highly effective type of trauma recovery therapy. I'm a fellow mom who is trying things that work and discovering things that don’t work. Throughout my motherhood process, I have experienced high highs, intense fears, and painful tragedies. I’ve given too much of myself and rediscovered myself. I’m a curious and adventurous person and my inner child is still very much alive! Motherhood has been a transformation for me that hasn't always been beautiful or kind but I wouldn't trade it for the world.
Education & Experience
I began working specifically with mothers after my son was born. The whole process of becoming a mom was far harder than I ever imagined. Prior to having my son, I was working at a foster and adoption agency, providing outpatient therapy to children and their families. While I loved working with the kids, I always connected with the caregivers and their vast needs in caring for kid(s) with vast needs. Once I became a mom, my heart was set on trying to help moms through this huge life transition. I worked in a therapy group private practice geared toward helping mothers before starting my own private practice specifically for new moms who have experienced trauma. Throughout my career as a therapist, I've been passionate about trauma recovery. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree in human services, with a concentration in mental health, and a master’s degree in counseling from Cal State Fullerton. Throughout my time in college, I taught mental health educational courses to inmates and mandated clients. After the 2018 Camp Fire, I traveled to Paradise, CA to provide EMDR trauma recovery services to the survivors. During the height of COVID, I went into homeless shelters and provided clients experiencing psychosis with weekly therapy sessions and grounding if they needed to be hospitalized. I feel enormously grateful to my clients who have generously let me join them in some of their toughest moments and support them during their healing process.
