About Me
I'm Catherine Hoover, Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor. I am a therapist that specializes in trauma-focused therapy. I work with trauma survivors, as well as individuals that deal with depression, anxiety, grief, and adjustment issues. I used EMDR therapy to help people work through their most difficult experiences, and things that still feel 'stuck', to be able to live more authentic and satisfying lives. I work with all clients, particularly adults and older adults. EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, and is a form of therapy that helps people heal from trauma and other distressing life experiences. Experiencing trauma can block the brain's natural way to recover from distressing events. EMDR therapy is designed to reactivate this natural healing process through alternating eye movements, sounds, or taps. I enjoy offering a holistic lens for therapy, to help people whose 'head doesn't match their gut feeling', or have experienced improvements with talk therapy but still have some issues that seem to be 'lurking'. I have witnessed the transformation that clients can experience through EMDR and I am passionate in helping future clients with their pain or struggles.
