About Me

My path to being a provider started with my own lived experience in recovery from severe depression and post-traumatic stress. I grew up in an abusive foster home in a time and place where mental health was not discussed or treated. I survived that, a suicide attempt, and three years of homelessness after I left fostercare. When I connected to treatment later in life, it helped me turn things around, enabling me to graduate college, feel my life had value and purpose, serve my country in the US Army and Department of Justice, and eventually become a mental healthcare provider myself. I started in peer support before becoming a licensed clinician and have years of experience in mental health crisis services. I do outpatient therapy in my own practice, Squared Away Counseling, to help people find peace, grow mentally and emotionally, and reach their goals.
