About Me

Diane Kimball, LMHC, is the owner and clinical director of Kimball Counseling Associates (KCA), offering specialized therapy to adults, teenagers and children who have experienced abuse, trauma, neglect or exposure to domestic violence, exhibiting complex trauma symptomology including PTSD and dissociative disorders. Diane is EMDR certified, an Approved EMDR Consultant and is heavily influenced by the empirically based Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI) approach. As a TBRI educator, Diane works with many clients who have attachment injuries, and specializes in working with individuals who have experienced childhood abuse/trauma, adoption, and foster care. She is certified in The Trauma Model, by Dr. Colin Ross, which serves as a foundation for understanding and treating dissociative disorders and complex trauma. Diane also works extensively with individuals on the Autism Spectrum. She has experienced success in increasing flexible thinking, problem-solving, and improving Theory of Mind in adults with ASD using specialized EMDR therapy. Diane leads groups for parents, teaching and modeling masters-level play therapy skills used to connect to their children, as well as to each other, using TBRI and CPRT (Child-Parent Relationship Therapy) modalities. She provides face-to-face and Telehealth therapy sessions, offers supervision and consultation to mental health interns and therapists, and is a guest lecturer at local universities, agencies and professional conferences.

Education & Experience

Diane is a graduate at Palm Beach University, and has received extensive training in complex trauma, including childhood abuse, attachment injuries, dissociation, PTSD and domestic violence. She worked for 3 years at Kids House, a child advocacy center, which provided a foundation for working with adult and child survivors of abuse and trauma. Her private practice, Kimball Counseling Associates (KCA), is known for the skill that her clinicians bring in working with trauma and abuse, and is nurtured through extensive ongoing weekly training and supervision/consultation. This provides for competent, compassionate care for all clients at KCA. Diane is also known for her ability to work effectively with individuals on the Autism Spectrum, using EMDR protocols adapted specifically to meet their unique needs. She believes in working with families, as appropriate and beneficial to therapy, to provide support and increased efficacy and competence in their environment. Diane has been a guest lecturer in local universities, workshops and national conferences, speaking on child abuse, adoption, adult childhood survivors of abuse, complex trauma, parent involvement and training, TBRI, and Autism Spectrum Disorders.
