About Me

I’m Donnie and I’m excited you have found my page. I enjoy working with children, young adults, adults, and couples helping people achieve their life goals by teaching skills that help with the stories we tell ourselves about our stories from our past while creating new stories for our future. My soothing and comfortable private practice office, Chapters Counseling, is located in downtown Mount Pleasant, Michigan. I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor through the state of Michigan. My counseling career began in 2015 and I am passionate about helping people to have a life worth living. My experiences include working with children, teenagers and families in juvenile detention facilities. Some of the goals were to overcome traumatic life experiences, depression and anxiety. Working at community mental health allowed me to interact with a variety of people on achieving their goals. Marriage and couples counseling training have allowed me to acquire the skills to help many couples save their marriages and relationships through connection and communication. I utilize a variety of techniques, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, EMDR, Emotionally Focused Couples Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, stress management, increasing self-worth, assertiveness training, mood management, anxiety reduction, empowerment, and work/life balance. I am a Qualified Supervisor for Limited Licensed Counselors in Michigan. I am available to clinical supervision for recent graduates. During supervision with me, we will address case consultation, ethics and laws and personal growth as a therapist. I volunteer with a local high school band and run my own ruck club.
