About Me
I work with children and young people up to aged 18. My clients typically have had an event in their life that they have experienced as traumatic. This then leads to difficulties with their behaviour or in certain situations, that they need help recovering from. Although sessions are confidential to the child, I work closely with the family to ensure that the child is well supported whilst they work their way through any difficult memories, thoughts and feelings. I use art, sand, drama, movement, music, puppets, creative visualisation and therapeutic stories alongside counselling to enable a child to express them self in the most suitable way for them. I mostly practice in a non directive manner and allow the child to lead their therapeutic process; I will offer direction, if necessary. I also offer Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR) to help children and young people who have specific traumatic memories. I feel that this combination of skills allows me to help each child on an individual basis and as each child is unique, so is their healing journey.
