About Me
I take a thoughtful and caring approach to working together and aim to create a safe space to help you process trauma. I specialize in helping people recover from narcissistic abuse, religious trauma, and coercive control, including survivors of cult-related abuse and high-demand groups. I work psychodynamically and am trained in trauma-focused modalities including EMDR, mindfulness, and somatic-based therapies. Before becoming a psychotherapist, I worked as a neuroscientist, and my neuroscience expertise informs my therapeutic approaches.
Education & Experience
I completed my MSW at Columbia University, and my PhD in Psychology, an academic degree that focused on clinical psychology and neuroscience research, at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. I also completed postgraduate study in the psychology of coercive control at the University of Salford in the UK. I have a Masters of Science in Neuroscience from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. Additional training and certifications include the 2-Year Integrated Trauma Training Program at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy, EMDRIA-approved EMDR training (EMDR Center of the Rockies), Master Class on Treating Dissociative Disorders with EMDR (Dolores Mosquera), and the 7-Month Master Course on Attachment Wounding & Identity in Adult Survivors of Childhood Trauma (Lana Epstein).
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
I am a member of NYCATT (The New York City Association of Trauma Therapists) and ICSA (International Cultic Studies Association). I regularly collaborate and hold workshops with People Leave Cults (https://www.peopleleavecults.com), as well as other cult recovery specialists and organizations. I am a staff therapist at the Institute for Contemporary Psychotherapy (ICP) in New York City.
