About Me
Dr. Elizabeth A. Goodwin is a highly experienced licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years in the field. As an EMDRIA-certified professional, she specializes in trauma-informed therapy and is committed to supporting LGBTQ+ individuals and those in relationship-expansive dynamics. Dr. Goodwin delivers culturally sensitive therapy to adults facing a range of challenges, including post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety, grief and loss, occupational and interpersonal stress, and life transitions. Her expertise empowers clients to overcome obstacles and achieve meaningful change.
Education & Experience
Dr. Goodwin earned her Doctorate of Psychology (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University in 2005. She completed her internship at the Syracuse Veterans Affairs Medical Center, where she received specialized training in treating post-traumatic stress disorder, behavioral health psychology, and marital and couples therapy. In 2007, she finished a two-year forensic postdoctoral fellowship at the University of Rochester’s School of Medicine and Dentistry. Additionally, in 2017, she obtained a Post-Doctoral Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychopharmacology (MSCP) from Fairleigh Dickinson University.
Professional & Volunteer Affiliations
Dr. Goodwin previously served as an adjunct professor in the graduate programs of Addictions and Forensic Psychology at Purdue Global University. For over a decade, she has been an editorial reviewer for the International Journal of Military Medicine. Dr. Goodwin is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA) and has participated in large-scale research initiatives sponsored by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. She has published journal articles on various topics, including enhancing resilience in deployment settings, the relationship between trauma and substance use, biofeedback-assisted relaxation, and reducing the stigma surrounding mental health services.
