About Me
I am masters-level, independently licensed clinical social worker with more than a decade of experience in individual, small group, and community settings. With a background in education, community development, and social services, I bring knowledge and awareness of a variety of systems, settings, and experiences to her therapy practice. As a therapist, I specialize in women’s issues related to grief, loss, trauma, anxiety, depression, and life transitions. I invite women to come as they are, to get grounded in their values, to be empowered in their identities, and to relax into wholehearted living. I have devoted my training and practice to holding space for women, allowing them to make changes that promote hope, healing, and holistic care. With compassionate understanding and enduring curiosity, I encourage women to look deeper & draw closer—because there’s more to them, and their story, than meets the eye. And while that process takes as long as it takes— I'm there holding space for clients every step of the way. Utilizing EMDR, I tailor my approach to best come alongside individual clients on their unique journeys. As a Registered Yoga Teacher, I integrate somatic practices to assist clients in becoming aware of their bodies, emotions, and experiences. With that awareness, clients explore ways to manage stress, feel emotion, process trauma, clarify values, and challenge themselves to grow, change, and flourish. As both a therapist and a therapy client, I understand firsthand how challenging it can be to find the right therapist. I offer a free, 15-minute consultation call to all potential clients to answer any questions and clarify the therapy process. Reach out today at emilyriggstherapy@gmail.com to get started.
