About Me
Hello! I believe that we are all designed to heal. I’m passionate about building relationships with clients of all ages, developing trust and safety to create the space and awareness for clients to be who they were made to be. Sometimes the strategies we developed to navigate the world initially helped us to survive, but they are no longer serving us, and are actually keeping us from living life fully. I journey alongside my clients as they reconnect with their true selves, rediscover hope, and step into a richer experience of life. My clinical areas of focus are trauma and attachment wounds, complex trauma, anxiety, depression, and interpersonal challenges. When helpful, I integrate practices from somatic experiencing, play therapy, and attachment based therapies. Additionally, I enjoy weaving faith and spirituality into the healing process for clients who wish to do so. I believe that what challenges us in our current life is linked to past stuck and unprocessed difficult, wounding, and traumatic experiences. I also believe that each one of us is innately resilient. Our work together focuses on increasing awareness and access to our resiliency, then processing our past wounds through this enhanced lens of health. Shifts naturally emerge, and healing occurs as we venture together on this journey.
Education & Experience
I received a MAEd in Counseling in 2003 from Wake Forest University in North Carolina. In my 20+ years working as a therapist, I have worked in residential care for children, the Nashville Metro School system as a school-based therapist, and the Sexual Assault Center where I was also a clinical director. I entered into full-time private practice in January 2022. In addition to EMDR, I am a Registered Play Therapist, and have training in Somatic Experiencing and in Developmental Needs Meeting Strategy (an attachment based model for healing).
