About Me

Hello, I’m Gail Newman, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor dedicated to helping individuals heal, grow, and reconnect with their sense of self. I offer a supportive and compassionate space where you can feel seen, heard, and empowered to explore the challenges that bring you to therapy. My approach is person-centered and trauma-informed, grounded in evidence-based practices, including EMDR and cognitive-behavioral strategies. I believe that every person’s story is unique, and I’m committed to tailoring our work together to fit your specific needs, values, and strengths. Whether you’re working through trauma, managing anxiety or depression, or navigating life transitions, you don’t have to do it alone. Therapy is a collaborative process, and I consider it a privilege to walk alongside you as you move toward clarity, resilience, and lasting change. Wherever you are on your journey, I’m here to support you with care, respect, and unwavering commitment to your well-being.

Education & Experience

My path to becoming a therapist began at the University at Albany, where I earned my degree in Mental Health Counseling. It was during this time that I developed a strong foundation in trauma-informed care and deepened my passion for supporting individuals through life’s most difficult moments. My clinical training included an internship at Pros RSS, where I worked closely with individuals navigating trauma, crisis, and a wide range of mental health challenges. Since then, my experience has grown to include working with individuals, couples, families, and groups across the lifespan. I’ve provided support through Functional Family Therapy, responded to urgent needs as a first responder with Mobile Crisis, and have continued to work with diverse populations in both short-term and long-term care settings. I am certified in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), which has become a central part of my work with clients recovering from trauma. Each step of my journey has strengthened my belief in the power of connection, healing, and resilience -and it’s a privilege to walk beside you on your own path.
